Field Application Engineer (FAE) / Network / Systems Engineer

·  As depot-level repair facility shop lead in Afghanistan (Kandahar), provided in-country engineering support for entire tactical radio catalog (SINCGARS, SATCOM, VHF/UHF LOS, HF).  Assisted with HW/SW troubleshooting, installation, repair, and training of military personnel.  Tracked/ordered repair parts (including crypto) and reported weekly statistics to prime. (2013/06 – 2014/06). 

·  Supported military exercises in two successful Network Integration Exercises (Ft. Bliss):  troubleshot/patched HW/SW in the field, authored whitepapers, performed customer briefings, and reported critical findings in real time to in-house development teams.  Designed and deployed mobile ad hoc wideband radio networks (ANW2/SRW) including router/switch configurations, using vendor tools and JEN-M platform. (2012/07 – 2013/06).

·  As FAE lead in Afghanistan (multiple locations), designed, deployed, and troubleshot tactical radio networks.  Reported to government PM daily to coordinate activities, track project, and monitor 5-10 in-country FAE’s. (2010/08 – 2012/06). 

Software / Systems / Test/ Field Support Engineer

·  Developed factory acceptance test procedures and sold off contractual requirements to foreign customer representatives for tactical military radio.  Authored white papers and test reports.  (2010/05 - 2010/07).

·  Integrated IP feature for legacy SATCOM (25 kHz) waveform using CPM modem.  Ensured all requirements were met, corrected software defects (C++), tested radio in various network topologies.  Wrote tests for team to follow and white papers explaining operation.  Radios used QNX operating system and SVN for configuration management. (2009/07 – 2010/04).

·  Field tested various tactical radio products in real world urban/rural scenarios using wideband networking radio waveform and narrowband waveforms.  Worked closely with development team to investigate defects.  Authored test reports, defect reports. (2009/04 – 2009/06)

·  Audited low-level CORBA messages that crossed from secure to unsecure side of radio across cryptographic boundary to support NSA security directives.  Worked closely with crypto team to help implement message policy.  Tested rigorously and corrected software defects (C++) to ensure that released software would not cause radio alarm.  Wrote white paper on processes necessary to identify and define the messages. (2008/06 – 2009/04)

·  Implemented low level drivers (C++) at Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) level for memory parts connected to Texas Instruments OMAP2420.  This included memory flash card, SPI flash devices, EEPROMS.  Developed test applications to exercise hardware functionality for prototype boards. ·  Wrote, debugged, and tested software for RADAR Threat Emitter system with Electronic Countermeasures Receiver, integrating legacy FORTRAN code and C/C++ using VxWorks operating system.  Compiler used was Greenhills Multi with Clearcase/Clearquest as the CM and defect tracking tool.  Used Matlab (M) code to write post-mission data processing GUI.  Wrote basic signal processing algorithms for FIR, FFT, and interpolation.  Traveled to customer sites in AK, ID, and SC to demonstrate functionality in live exercises with aircraft.  Worked with the Air Force to troubleshoot/fix issues.  Wrote C40 C code for digital timing board to supply triggers for ECM processing and RF stimulation of target.  Developed LabWindows GUI to test.  Worked with tcl scripts in Linux to produce GUI’s and with stand-alone Matlab executable generation to allow examination of RADAR tracking data.
